Fleetwood Mac/Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell brought his band, The Dirty Knobs, to SiriusXM’s studios to record a session for the Tom Petty Radio channel. SiriusXM shared video featuring The Dirty Knobs’ performance of “Irish Girl” from the set.
“Irish Girl” is one of 13 tracks featured on The Dirty Knobs’ debut studio album, Wreckless Abandon. The LP was released this past Friday.
Mike Campbell is joined in The Dirty Knobs by guitarist Jason Sinay, bassist Lance Morrison and drummer Matt Laug. “‘Irish Girl’ is my favorite lyric on the record,” Campbell said in a statement that accompanied the release of the single earlier this month. “It’s whimsical and more poetic than most of the Knobs’ songs. I was inspired to write it driving home late one-night listening to Van Morrison on the radio. When I got home, the song just came to me. It’s very simple musically and I love the sound of the record. It reminds me of Ireland.”
