One year ago today, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and the Trey Anastasio Band capped what turned out to be their lone tour of 2020 at The Civic Theatre in New Orleans. Yesterday, Trey shared pro-shot video of “Set Your Soul Free” from the first night in NOLA and today he unveiled pro-shot video featuring “Love Is What We Are” from the next night on the one-year anniversary of TAB’s Winter Tour 2020 finale.
While “Love Is What We Are” was debuted by Phish on July 14, 2017 in Chicago, the quartet has yet to perform the song a second time. TAB premiered their take at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York during the first night of Winter Tour 2020. Six more versions came before its appearance in the first set of the tour closer in New Orleans.
TAB fit in a number of treats as part of the setlist for the show that took place on this date in 2020. The first full band TAB performance of “Party Time” came early on and later in the opening frame the group played “A Case Of Ice & Snow” for the first time in nearly three years and just their second cover of Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round In Circles” since 2006. Anastasio and company’s second set included the return of “Sultans Of Swing,” a Dire Straits cover last played on January 23, 2013.
