Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell were among those who contributed performances to Home For The Holidays, a livestream benefit concert put together by Cyndi Lauper. Shires and Isbell shared video featuring their rendition of “The Problem” that aired as part of Home For The Holidays.
Proceeds from Home For The Holidays went towards True Colors United, an organization co-founded by Lauper that “implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.” Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard and Jackson Browne were just some of the other artists featured in Home For The Holidays, which premiered via TikTok on December 11 before airing on YouTube and Facebook on December 13.
Shires and her husband, Isbell, originally released “The Problem” on September 28 to coincide with International Safe Abortion Day. “This song is about making tough decisions and not having to go it alone,” Shires stated. “To me, ‘The Problem’ is a song about supporting someone you love through a difficult time,” Isbell added. “It’s about helping without exerting your own will. I support a woman’s right to choose, and I know these choices are never easy.”
Amanda and Jason recorded the version of “The Problem” featured on Home For The Holidays at their barn. Watch the resulting video below:
